CIRCUIT COURT CLERK

Q:  Can I pay by credit card?

A:  Yes.  The Circuit Court Clerk’s office accepts credit card payments.  You may pay by credit card either in person or over the telephone.

Q:  Can anyone obtain copies of court records?

A:  Yes.  Unless a court file is ordered sealed, it is considered a public record. However, all juvenile files are confidential and can only be reviewed by individuals specified by the law.

Q:  How is court cost figured?

A:  Court costs are an accumulation of many types of fees and litigation tax.  These fees and taxes are set by the county commission and the state legislature.

 

COUNTY CLERK

Q:  What does it cost to register my vehicle if I move here from out of state?

A. If the vehicle has been registered in customers name for 90 days, cost is $36.00 for standard registration.

Q:  How much are vanity plates? 

A:  Standard personalized or standard specialty plates are $59.00

Q:  What are the requirements for a marriage license? 

A:  Must be 18 years of age with a Drivers License or a Birth Certificate

Q:  How do I obtain a business license and what is the cost? 

A:  We have an application to fill and the initial cost is $22.00.

 



ELECTION COMMISSION

Q:  How long before an election must I register to vote?

A: You must be registered to vote in the State of Tennessee at least thirty (30) days before an election. T.C.A. 2-2-109

Q:  Where can I register to vote?

A:  You may register to vote at the Election Commission Office or pick up a form at the Post Office, Public Libraries, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Human Services or the Department of Health. Forms are also available online at the Coffee County Election Commission website: www.coffeecountyelectioncommission.com

Q:  Do I have to register before every election?

A:  Once you are registered in the County in which you reside, you do not need to register again unless you move to another address within the County. If you move to another County in Tennessee or outside the State of Tennessee, you will need to register in the new County or State.

 

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

Q:  What is the FIPS code for the NOAA Weather Radio?

A:  The County Code for you NOAA weather radio is 047031

Q:  Where can I buy a storm Shelter?

A:  We have a list of vendors in our office of different manufacturers to choose from

Q:  Where can I get 24 hour notification of Severe Weather?

A:  You can purchase a weather Radio which will alert you to severe weather alerts. Or if you prefer to receive alerts via your cell phone you can go to  www.thunder1320.com and sign up for their text message service. You will be sent a text message anytime there is a warning for our County.

MAYOR'S OFFICE

Q:  Where do I get my car tags?

A:  County Clerk’s Office at (931) 723-5106

Q:  What are the hours of the Convenience Centers?

A: Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday
  6:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  Sunday’s 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Q: What are the hours of the Recycle Center?

A: Wednesday 3:00 - 7:00 p.m.
  Saturday 7:30 - 1:30 p.m.

Q:  Where do I report missing road signs?

A:  County Mayor’s Office

Q:  Where can I sign my child up for the Imagination Library?

A:  Applications are at the public libraries, County Mayor’s office and local hospitals



SHERRIF'S DEPARTMENT

Q:  How much is an offense report?

A:  Free, any offense report taken by the Sheriff’s Department is free

Q:  How much are accident reports?

A:  Single page accident reports are free, a full accident report is $5.00

Q:  Does a criminal warrant cost anything?

A:  No, a criminal warrant or summons does not cost anything to obtain.

 

TRUSTEE OFFICE

Q:  Do you accept partial payments?

A:  Yes

Q:  Do you accept credit cards?

A:  On-line only

Q:  Is there any help to lower my taxes?

A:  Must qualify as either 65 and over; getting social security disability; or a qualified  veteran or widow of a veteran.
